Public School “Magnet” open house day

Today was the nashville public school “magnet” open house day, where parents are encouraged to take a walk through of the school(s) of their choice before sending in the magnet lottery application.  I did just that, ds and I braved the freezing cold rain and wind and went to the public Montessori school that I want to get DD in.  I absolutely LOVED this school.  There is a great park/waterpark/skateboard park nearby that would be great to take the kids too after school.  It’s the same park my old homeschool group meets at every Wednesday, so would be nice to catch up with them when the weather is nicer then today.  i was telling DH how great the school was and he said “don’t get your hopes up”.  but how can I not?  Maybe the Lottery Gods will smile upon me for a change?

Pass the Xanax, Please

My 2 year old is driving me crazy. Literally. I was an insane crazy woman by the time DH got home last night. DS finds anything, and I mean anything, that might hurt him and gets it. All day long I have to watch him like a hawk or he will hurt himself. I know you are thinking “well that’s the way 2 year olds are”, and I know that, but he is excessive. I think I was spoiled because my daughter never did anything DS does and I thought she was “normal”. She never tried to bite, spit, kick, scratch, pull hair, grab knives-forks-pencils and run with them.

DS is very physical, and loves anything that involves kicking, throwing, or hitting a ball. He doesn’t do any of  his “crazy stuff” in an “angry” manner or in response to anger (except when he’s tired), so I don’t think he will grow up to be a murderer or someone with anger management issues. though I might be developing anger management issues, sometimes I look at him and say “*why* do you do this?!?!” because I have no idea how to handle him. I need Supernanny!! Or a therapist, or some kind of strong tranquilizer. Or all three. yeah… all three.

Importance of 5 point harness systerm

Everyone needs to watch this 3 minute movie on why its important to put and keep your kids in a 5 point harness system.

Both my kids are in Britax seats, DD has a Britax Husky, which is good untill she’s 80lbs using the 5 point harness, and DS’s seat is a Britax Marathon which is good until he’s 65lbs using the 5 point harness. Just need to save up now and get a Britax for MIL’s car.
