Geocaching @ Bells Bend Park & Dead Snakes

Snake being rescued from a netWhat a fun day we had! The weather was perfect and we got to meet other geocachers from around the area. Milly (our dog) loved it and got some much needed exercise. So many kids came, my daughter was thrilled. We found I think 6 caches, I ended up with at least a dozen scratches from the brush we walked through and all of us had ticks. Eww ticks!!! The park is just awesome *except* for the netting they put down on the sides of the paths. Someone f’cked up because the netting holes are so small that snakes go under the netting but they can’t get out, and are dying. We saw 4 dead snakes half in and half out of the netting and we just wondered around a very tiny part of the 800 acre park. The netting needs to be pulled up and if they need absolutely need netting for some reason, put down netting with bigger holes. here are some pictures of todays event, the first picture of the geocacher taking a snake out of a net I didn’t take, but borrowed from Weathergirl who posted the picture. As always, click to embiggen them:

Geocachers gather for a bit of egg hunting, geocache style I think we found one! A beautiful “Bob Ross” looking barn in the park

I’ve been tagged..

table.jpgGeekagirl tagged me and geezzz its not Tackle it Tuesday girl!!! I guess I have my project for Tuesday, thanks! :)

Ok, here goes: What’s on your table right this second: crap from all over the house What do you wish was on your table?: Spring flowers and a bowl of fresh fruit

All up in your grill

grill2.jpggrill1.jpgWe finally did it, we broke down and bought a grill. I’ve been wanting one for a while, and with the kids playing in the back yard all day and since we have that wonderful roof over the back deck, now just seemed like the perfect time. The left side is my side, for my veggies and veggie burgers, the other half for the dead animals everyone else eats. And I’m very proud of myself, I put it together. It only took about an hour and a half which I think is good when you have a 2 year old at your side “helping”. I didn’t hook up the gas, I don’t like to touch things explosive, I’ll have DH do it when he gets home.

Tomorrow will be fun, we are going on a Geocache event called the “Geocache Easter Dash” at Bells Bend Park, which is a new 803 acre park in metro Nashville. Another good day to get out before the bugs take over for the summer. Speaking of bugs, has anyone else seen a lot more flying stinging things this year then last? There are so many wasps around I’m afraid the kids will get stung.
