Back to school shopping

Click MeYes, I’m back to school shopping already!  Actually I started buying “standard school attire” in May online because of the great sales.  I just finished up buying the rest of her uniforms at All Heart Kids .  They still have great  prices so if you need to buy uniforms I’d start now because it’s only a little over a month before school starts.

I’m happy I put her in public school, but I miss homeschooling her.  I see the love of learning disappearing from her eyes.  Public school seems to suck the life out of artsy, creative types which she is, or she used to be before she started school.  We are going to try again to get her in the Montessori magnet school.  Like thousands of others in Nashville, we didn’t “win” the magnet lottery last year.  Why can’t all of our schools be a magnet school?

I’m addicted to Bear

bear_grylls_in_jungle.jpgBear Grylls. A name that I only first heard a few weeks ago, now I can’t get out of my mind. If I ever find myself stranded anywhere on earth, he is who I want with me. (sorry dh, I love you, but wouldn’t you rather have Bear with you then me?? If you wanted to survive you would!) I amazed at how much he knows and how well he can adapt and survive.  The man has no fear.  No fire?  No problem, he will eat the fish while it’s still wiggling.   Even my daughter likes him. The last show we watched he pee’d in his shirt and put it on his head to protect himself from the heat.  He’s on the Discovery channel. The show is called Man vs Wild.  You must watch an episode.  Then you can be addicted to Bear too!

Dracula’s Blood … but the real name is…

Update: Dahlia! Thank for mentioning it in the comments, I googled the name and sure enough that is what it is. Judging from other pictures, mine is just beginning to open up. I haven’t seen any picures like the color of mine though. So I’ll just call it Dracula’s Blood. I just started taking pictures of flowers in my backyard and my mother in laws back yard last month, and I’m hooked. I love taking pictures of flowers. I can’t belive I’ve missed all that beauty all these years. The flowers look even better to me when I can look at it closely on my computer. Nature is amazing! Now I wonder how this big beauty got in my flower box. the stem is over 2 ft tall.

I don’t know what this flower is called, but it just appeared in one of my “unplanted” flowerboxes. The color is so beautiful and so unusal! So “Dracula’s Blood” seemed like a fitting name until someone can tell me what it is. Oh yeah, it finally RAINED!
