The school bus showed up 30 minutes late today. It was 12 degrees. Her excuse? The heater didn’t work so “they” wouldn’t let her leave until it was fixed. Hello? Does that make sense to you? The kids and I were beyond freezing. And 5 minutes before the bus came, the kids told me that yesterday some girl on the bus told them she had a butcher knife in her backpack. God, this is elementary school so I’m seriously worried about middle school. DD is supposed to go to Dupont-Hadley Middle school, and from the outside it doesn’t look like a good, safe learning environment. Then for high school she supposed to go to McGavock. I’ve lived in Nashville for 8 years and I already know that she isn’t putting a single toe in McGavock.
So what do I do if we don’t get lucky in the magnet lottery and she doesn’t get into one of the middle school magnet schools? Even if we could afford it, it seems all the private schools around here are Catholic , and we aren’t religious. (edited the post so it doesn’t sound like I’m bashing Catholic schools). Maybe homeschool again. I don’t know. It’s frustrating because you want your kids to go to a good, safe school. But that starts with a f’ing bus that shows up on time.
